Maja Popovic

Maja Popovic is Programme Associate and Communication Manager at Mental Disability Rights Initiative MDRI-S.
She become a part of MDRI-S team in January 2013 and serves as a focal point for persons with mental and psycho-social disabilities and self-advocate groups in Serbia.
She is in charge of communication with project partners, coordination of project activities, and continuous monitoring and documentation of the organization’s activities. She is actively involved in planning, preparation, and organization of international, regional and national trainings and conferences.
Using knowledge gained during international training in Switzerland, Maja has conducted a series of interviews and workshops with people with disabilities who are living in residential institutions and with people with disabilities who’ve had experience of institutionalization in Serbia. She is also a co-author of numerous easy-to-read brochures.
Maja is part of the monitoring team of residential institutions in Serbia.
She has a certificate from Belgrade School of Human Rights “Vojin Dimitrijevic”, Serbia’s most notable human rights oriented educational organization.
Maja studied Faculty of Philosophy in Serbia and became a graduate Sociologist.
