Disability Rights International’s Work in Vietnam

Disability Rights International traveled to Vietnam in  2009 as part of a collaboration with UNICEF.   Disability Rights International participated in a workshop on drafting Vietnam’s new national Disability Law. Disability Rights International conducted a workshop for UNICEF and other international development organizations operating in Vietnam on ways to adapt internationally-funded programs to the requirements of the new UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Disability Rights International reviewed Vietnam’s proposed disability reforms and developed comprehensive and concrete recommendations to the government of Vietnam regarding legislative and policy changes.

Disability Rights International’s advocacy for children in Vietnam and across the world continues. To read more about our work to protect children with disabilities, read about our Worldwide Campaign to End the Institutionalization of Children with Disabilities.
