DRI has won the first ever precautionary measures from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to protect the lives of people with disabilities detained in the the state-run Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Paraguay. 

“The substantial changes in mental health practice and policy accomplished by this advocacy is one of the foremost successes in the use of precautionary measures in the inter-American human rights system.”
