A three-part training webinar by Disability Rights International to engage civil society in monitoring and advocacy. Supported by International Disability Alliance (IDA) & Lumos Foundation
Part 1 of 3: Strategic Considerations for Effective Investigations
Held September 10, 2026
Millions of children and adults are segregated from society in institutions – orphanges, psychiatric facilities, care homes, substance abuse treatment, migrant detention, and other facilities. Behind closed doors, they are often subject to violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) guarantees community inclusion. But rights enforcement and policy reform is difficult or impossible when information and data is lacking. Webinars equip activists to investigate, document, and challenge institutionalization.
