Disability Rights International opens Kiev, Ukraine advocacy office

July 24, 2013--Kyiv, Ukraine-- Disability Rights International (DRI) is proud to announce the creation of its newest advocacy office in Kyiv, Ukraine. DRI also has regional offices in the Balkans, based in Serbia, and the Americas, based in Mexico City.   DRI-Ukraine is affiliated with DRI but is locally-controlled by Ukrainian advocacy leaders.

DRI submits amicus brief to Mexican Supreme Court in a landmark case for disability rights

DRI Testimony: US Action Needed to Protect Disability Rights Worldwide

Disability Rights International continues to pressure Guatemalan government to end human rights abuses at notorious psychiatric facility

March 15, 2013 -Disability Rights International (DRI), partnering with the Human Rights Office of the Archdiocese of Guatemala City (ODHAG), visited the Federico Mora Hospital this week where we had documented life-threatening abuses against children and adults in the facility, including sexual and physical abuse. The UN Special Rapporteur on Torture calls on Obama Administration to take action to end torture at Massachusetts school for children with disabilities

Washington, DC – March 5, 2013 - Juan Méndez, the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, presented a report to the UN Human Rights Council yesterday in Geneva holding governments around the world accountable for violations of the UN Convention Against Torture. The report cited the United States, calling on the federal government to bring an end to the use of electric skin shocks and restraint at the Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC) in Canton, Massachusetts.
